Happy Valentines Day! ♥

I rushed down the stairs quickly, fiddling with the gate's lock.
Logan came to rest on the opposite side of the gate, staring at me. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"I'm getting us out of here!" I exclaimed, still attempting to unlock the gate. "It's no use, and besides, what if he catches us?" he asked.

That caused me to stop and look at him. What if he did catch us? I hadn't exactly put much thought into our punishment if my father ever found out about our escape. I took a breath, turning my bright pink gaze away from his pale yellowish one. "Then I suppose we'll just have to make sure he doesn't." There were no other words spoken as I twirled each key in hand, trying to find which was the correct one. Thankfully in his anxiousness to go ruin Ivy's wedding, Dad left the keys lying around unthinkingly.

"Where will we go?" he asked. I answered without turning around to face him. I didn't want to see the fear in his eyes, or him to see mine. After all, I was the stronger species. I wasn't supposed to show weakness. I had to stay strong. "I-I don't know," I mumbled as we rushed away.

There was no time to waste. I had no idea when he might return, what he might do; I had nothing. I just knew we couldn't spend our lives here.

Shortly after I compelled a young woman to allow use into her home, and that we would be living there for the time being, my cell went off. The caller ID read 'Dartay'. I groaned and showed it to Logan, totally clueless to the way my family works and who was all in it, who nodded. I sighed and put the piece to my ear.

Victoria: Hello?
Dartay: Hello.
Victoria sighed before saying, Dad's not here.
Dartay: Thats fine. I was calling for you.
Victoria: Me? Why would you be calling for me?
Dartay: Oh come on, we both know we get along at least a little better then he thinks we do.
Victoria: I suppose.
Dartay: My mom comes from a really big family and they're all really close, all her brothers and sisters and cousins and all that, so she wants me to get along at least with my siblings. That means you. Whats wrong anyways? You sound upset and not just because your talking to me.What did he do?

Victoria:  Remember Logan?
Dartay: He knows?
Victoria: Actually he was stalking us, or something! We were at school after dark just hanging out, and I was about to go home, and then he just came out of the shadows when Logan kissed me. He had Logan in the cell.
Dartay: Oh my gosh.
Victoria: While you guys were away at the wedding, I took the chance and got us out of there. But Dartay, there's something else, I paused and took a deep breath, looking deep into Logan's eyes.
Dartay: What is it? I know how much you love that boy. I won't tell him, I swear.
Victoria: I think-I think I'm pregnant.
Dartay: What?
Victoria: A few nights before the wedding, Dad didn't have a cell yet.. So he let Logan stay in my room. You know he wouldn't allow a human in his bed. . . Well, we kind of shared "one last night." I bit my lip in the awkwardness of trying to explain this to my slightly-younger sister.
Dartay: I see...
Victoria: So I'm on the run. If not for Logan and me, then for our baby. I'm only afraid of what Dad might do if he finds us.
Dartay: As well you should be. We both know he'll kill you. Oh god. Okay, where are you?
Victoria: I'm at an apartment, sorta, under a different name. Sunset Valley.
Dartay: Sunset Valley, huh. Alright, I think they have a base there...

Victoria: Base? What?
Dartay: A base, a compound, the question isn't what, its who. The Scarlet Snake, I've researched them in case they ever come against me. If what I've read is true they'll help you.
Dartay: Find the base, go to them seeking sanctuary, they'll take in Logan and once they know who you are they should take you too.
Victoria: What makes you think they'd take a vampire in?
Dartay: I'm not supposed to know this, but I do.
Dartay: They won't at first but like I said once they know who you are they will.
Victoria: Know what? Who am I? What do you know that I don't? I heard my voice raising. How was it possible that she knew more about myself than I did.
Dartay: Your mother... She was one of them, a member of The Scarlet Snake, and a high ranking one at that. A founding member and the latest in a near ancient line of vampire hunters.
Victoria: Wait, she WAS one? Where is she?
Dartay: From what I know, he killed her after you were born.
Victoria: Should have known. Still, it would have been nice to have a mom.
Dartay: I'm sorry. Her name was Alexandra Dragomir.
Dartay: When she was captured my mother took her arm band and earrings that all members wear. I can send them to you. They should help prove your identity.
Victoria: That would be most helpful.

Victoria: I'm so happy you're going to help me. And just think, you'll be an aunt! I was slightly suspicious, but as she said, we were a bit closer than our father knew. We had a few traits in common, anyways.
Dartay: I guess I will won't I?
Victoria: The one and only.
Dartay: I'll probably never meet them though.
Victoria: You might. Besides, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't let my kids see their family?
Dartay: Your seeking refuge with vampire hunters Victoria, you're one thing, they'll help you but not me.  There was a small silence as I took in the true meaning of running. I was virtually alone.
Dartay: I hope this isn't the last time we talk but I think it should be for a little while. He might try to use me to find you.
Victoria: Good point.
Dartay: Then again that would be the least of our worries if he finds out I've helped you.
We talked a bit more back and forth, mostly about our concerns when Dad finds out. Though we hope he doesn't. (Read about that on Many Mini McKnights) After that I hung up with Dartay, turning to find Logan missing.

I finally found him in the our new bedroom. My eyes widened in shock as I walked into the room, staring at the array of flowers sprawled across the floor. He hopped off the bed when he saw me, pulling me more into the room.

"I think I forgot something," he said, pulling a dozen red roses from behind his back. "Happy Valentines Day, Vi," he added.

I squealed loudly and kissed him. "Oh my, Logan! They're gorgeous! I need to go get you so-" I started to take off to the store to get him something. All this time worrying about Dad made me forget about Valentines Day! I needed to get him something. He pulled me back, of course.

We fell back onto the bed, with me cuddled up in his arms, as close as I could possibly be. "You've already given me everything, Vi, and now you deserve the world," he said.
