Happy Friday the 13th! (Part 1)

"Come on. We haven't any time for this. We have to go. Now," I said.

"What the hell, Vic?"

"What?! I don't want to get caught in my father's death trap when he comes back from Hidden Springs and finds us gone!"

"He won't be here for a while. You and I both know that," he announced.

"I DON'T know that. My father is unpredictable--which is something you must have forgotten. Or did you love being abducted and sealed away in your tomb?"

"You're not going out there."

"And why not?"

"It's dangerous." I scoffed.

"Anything dealing with me is dangerous! My whole life is dangerous!"

"Victoria-no, don't do it."

"Watch me."

"Victoria! Please! You can't go out in the daylight. You're a full-fledged vampire now. It's time to act like it."

I knew he was right. But, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Even though I knew this would happen, I couldn't shake the tears that the scene brought. The ground below her unconcious body was burned, and the tree that once held life had gone with it. I pulled her close to me. "Why, Vic?" I said between sobs. I love her so much. I could feel her strained breath on my shoulder, but it still wasn't enough. I will never forget it.

The longer I left her out here, the more effect the sunlight would have on her. I had to get her indoors as soon as possible. First, I gathered myself. It was hard to do, actually. She was easily lifted, so I was able to get her inside and out of harms way.

I laid her down on our bed. Her skin was hot, something I wasn't used to when it came to her. She looked so helpless, so vulnerable. I choked back tears. There would be no way we could leave today, not even if we needed to. I had to look away.

Instead I focused my attention on the sunset outside. It would be dark very soon, and that would mean that the vampires would come out to play. I watched the various events going on in the world without me: animals frolicking, kids playing. But I didn't care. I had Victoria, and she was all I would ever need.

The time seemed to go on forever and ever. After being around Victoria for so long, I had forgotten just how boring life was without her. I'll remember next time, that's for sure. But eventually the sun went down, just like everything, and the night-life started to stir. Or, at least, I knew it was. Perhaps not by the eyes, but in the shadows they were there. This is what I learned from Victoria. Vampires could be as silent and deadly as they wanted to be, or as sweet as anyone else around.

"You don't even know how worried I was about you," Logan said.

"Couldn't have been that bad," I mumbled.

"Oh, it was. It was absolute torture."

I grinned. "Worse than my dad?"

"Worse than your dad."

"Well," I started, "we need to keep moving. What time is it?"

"After eight p.m., and we can't leave now! You just got up for goodness sake!" he exclaimed.

"I'm fine."

"Yeah, that's what you said last time."

"I knew what I was getting myself into last time."

"Well apparently you didn't!" he screamed.

"Stop being so stupid, Logan! Vampires heal quicker than humans do. Look," I spun around slowly, "I'm perfectly fine-normal old, boring me," I said.

So, basically, I got it my way.

"Hold on, Vic. Let me stretch." We stopped our rigid pace and came to a halt close to a few flower bushes.

"Aww, come on. Please hurry, Logan. We have to get there before sun-up," I told him.

"L-Logan," I whispered.

"What?" he asked, still stretching his arms.

"L-L-Look," I pointed.

"Who is that?" he asked, coming to my side.

"How am I supposed to know? Just walk up to them and say 'Yo, dude! Who are you?'" I stared at him seriously.

"Well, no, but-"

"Logan. They're turning around. I think it might be my dad. He's finally figured it out. Shh---and RUN!"

We ran.

"Huh?" I heard a voice say. Soon after I heard the footsteps hot on our tails. I tried to run faster, but it was hard because of the baby. I didn't want to harm the baby, or leave Logan behind. "Louis! We've got trouble!" Louis?

I heard another set of footsteps, and then an excruciating pain, one that brought me to my knees.. then everything went black.

"We're sorry, son. It had to be done," the woman said.

"She's a vampire, and they must be dealt with."

"NO! Please, don't take her!"
